Creativity And Entrepreneurs: Life In Small Business Series

A friend told me recently his teenage son wants to go into Space Politics.  Wow, I had never heard of a job like this before.  Maybe I have lived a sheltered life, but I have been around the business long enough to know that even within a few short years, the entire landscape can shift and change from everything we once knew.

When did the world of business ever become so random?

The introduction of exponentially growing technology, virtual resources, conceptual IP and eco-consciousness become such significant considerations for the survival of small businesses these days. Changes are always happening in the world, and I guess it comes from the innate human desire to ‘Learn & Grow’.

As human beings, we are all seeking essentially the same 2 things in life.  Firstly we all seek to be ‘Happy’ on some deep and fundamental level in our life.   Happiness can represent different things to different people at any given moment in time.  For some happiness is when they are feeling loved, for others it may come in the form of a gift from someone, or achievement at work.  Whatever that sense of contentment, peace or happiness is, we all seek the same goal.

Secondly, every human being wants to ‘Learn & Grow’.  That is why the human race evolves.  We need to feel that we are better than we were the day before.  That we have learned something new, become better or reached a target.  Sometimes, the most disheartening feeling is when we realize after so much effort, that we are right back where we started.

Entrepreneurs are always seeking that next step, the new bright shiny idea that will become successful and ‘hit the jackpot’.  Entrepreneurs are by the very definition, Creators of business ideas.

Living with an Entrepreneur may be a little frustrating for others, as they are always leaving projects unfinished, ideas half started and more than just a tiny tornado behind in their wake.

I love speaking with the ‘Couples In Business’ teams who are working together.  The success in a good solid relationship that transitions into running a small business together is a fantastic experience.  The emphasis has to be upon the solid relationship, and for Entrepreneurs and their partners, this can be a little bit of a rocky journey.

Bringing out the best in each other is where relationships shine.  Those couples who can work together during the hard times and enjoy each other’s company during the good times are most likely to be successful.   When adding the pressure and stress of owning and operating a small business together, and then family matters on top, you can quickly see why relationships fall apart and the business struggles to stay afloat.

The world needs the creators, dreamers, adventure seekers, and innovators, without them, we would not be where we are today.  The Entrepreneurs of the world need the grounders, homemakers, foundations and hard workers to bring to life every idea that evolves beyond just fantasy.

If we look to the stars at the moment, those futuristic movies are being played out on the world stage, with the latest in Space-X taking to the skies.  We desire to explore what opportunities are available for human life outside of our own planet, testing beyond the limits and our own comfort zones.

The life of an Entrepreneur is no different, exploring opportunities outside of what is considered ‘normal’ in business.   They thrive on pushing and testing the limits all the time.

So what is the next big boom in business?  Where is the money going to land?    Upon which Entrepreneur’s creative concept, will the next evolution transform the way we currently live and do business together in our complex global economy?

Remember, every great idea, has to have a team to bring it to life.   For couples in business, value your Creative partner, and for Entrepreneurs, love and cherish the Supporting partner.  Without teamwork, it’s all just an elusive dream.

What is your great idea for a business?
